In the rapidly evolving world of high technology and artificial intelligence, competition for dominance is fierce.

One of the key players leading this race is Elon Musk with his company xAI.

The latest news announces the upcoming release of an updated version, Grok 4.20, which, according to the founder, is expected to reach the top of the popular SimpleBench benchmark by the end of August, surpassing its predecessors and overshadowing rivals.Musk posted a message on X stating that this version has a real chance to hit number one.

Moreover, detailed analysis shows that Grok 4 already outperforms the new GPT-5 and is only slightly behind Gemini 2.5 Pro, demonstrating a high level of competitiveness.

Interestingly, xAI operates with less than 30% of the workforce compared to giants like OpenAI and Google, highlighting the efficiency and speed of innovation.Besides the impressive results in SimpleBench, Grok 4 shows significant advantages in other benchmarks such as ARC-AGI and ARC-AGI-2, scoring 68% versus 65% of GPT-5 and 16% versus 9.9%, respectively.

Notably, Grok 4 Heavy also outperforms GPT-5 Pro in Humanity’s Last Exam, with 44.4% versus 42%.

Musk emphasized that xAI continuously updates and improves these models, including Grok 4 Heavy, to enhance their performance. It remains unclear what exactly Musk refers to when mentioning version 4.20.

However, according to xAI’s plans for 2025, new specialized versions are expected: Grok 4 Coder, optimized for programming; Grok 4 V2, with enhanced multimodal capabilities; and Baby Grok, an AI aimed at children.

Additionally, new versions for image and video generation are anticipated.

The release of Grok 5 is also scheduled for the end of 2025.Reactions from users and experts on social platforms, particularly X, reflect growing interest and admiration for Grok’s rapid development.

Nonetheless, the world of AI also features competitive struggles.

For instance, in a recent chess match, OpenAI’s o3 model defeated Grok 4 in the finals after a series of errors, highlighting that success in this field requires constant refinement and battling for supremacy.
