U.S.

President Donald Trump has shared his forecasts and hopes ahead of the scheduled meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin on August 15 in Alaska.

According to him, he approaches the talks with a belief in the potential for constructive and open dialogue, but he also acknowledges the possibility of negative outcomes.

Trump emphasized that the main goal of the visit is to ‘test the waters’ for future negotiations and expressed hope for mutually beneficial agreements that could contribute to stabilizing the situation and finding pathways to peace.Additionally, the White House leader announced that immediately after the talks, he plans to contact European leaders to inform them about the course of the meeting and the potential framework of future deals.

Trump stated that he does not intend to impose a specific agreement; instead, he believes that the agreement should be favorable for both sides and based on mutual interests.Regarding the objectives, the American president expressed strong hope for an end to the ongoing war—an ideal scenario for all parties involved, including Ukraine.

He believes that all negotiators, including Ukrainian officials, must work collectively towards peace.

Trump mentioned that the outcome of the meeting could vary: it might bring about a long-awaited ceasefire and stabilization or, alternatively, lead to no significant progress.According to Trump’s words, the main purpose is to halt the bloodshed and prevent further escalation of the conflict.

He emphasized that the war, initiated by others in his view, should not have started and has caused immense suffering and destruction that must be avoided.

It is also noted that European leaders acknowledge the importance of U.S.

efforts towards peace but demand greater pressure on Russia and guarantees of security for Ukraine. It is worth recalling that leaders from France, Germany, Italy, and other countries have expressed support for Trump’s diplomatic efforts, emphasizing the need for increased sanctions and security assurances to protect Ukrainian interests.

Meanwhile, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk expressed mixed feelings—hope and fear—regarding the upcoming summit between the U.S.

and Russia on Ukraine, scheduled shortly.
