US NATO envoy emphasizes that large territories won’t be handed over easily: the importance of fighting and land battles

The senior U.S.
representative to NATO, Matthew Whitaker, issued a significant warning regarding potential territorial concessions by Ukraine amid upcoming negotiations between top world leaders.
He clearly stated that no large chunks of land will be surrendered or transferred without having been fought for or earned through fierce battlefield engagements.
This reinforces the principle that land itself holds no intrinsic value unless it has been won in combat or through important political decisions.
Whitaker stressed that both sides involved in the conflict must agree on ending hostilities and reaching a diplomatic compromise that can save lives and stabilize the situation.
He emphasized the importance of Ukraine and Russian forces coming to an agreement that not only preserves territorial integrity but also lays a foundation for durable peace.
Officials indicate that Ukraine maintains a firm stance against any territorial losses, especially in the Donetsk region, asserting that such concessions contradict national interests and threaten the country’s independence.
Furthermore, the envoy pointed out that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky might participate in the upcoming summit between Putin and Trump — expected on Friday in Alaska — but only after individual meetings and discussions between the leaders.
This diplomatic process could significantly influence the conflict’s future trajectory.
It is also noteworthy that Ukraine remains resolute in its refusal to repeat the annexation scenario of Crimea or occupy temporarily captured territories, emphasizing its unwavering commitment to sovereignty and territorial integrity.
