A wave of misinformation has emerged once again in Moldova, posing a threat to the country’s stability.

The Ministry of Defence officially announced the detection of a fake video circulating on social media, depicting scenes purportedly showing Russian soldiers during the recent ‘Fire Shield’ military exercises.

This video was produced using advanced artificial intelligence technologies and features montaged footage combining archival material from previous drills with fabricated scenes of shooting targets that display Russian soldiers.

The ministry emphasized that these videos are entirely unrelated to actual events or this year’s exercises, which took place from August 4 to August 18 and were essential to the training of the national army, Romanian, and American troops.

The training occurred at designated military centers, and military equipment movements are visible on the country’s roads.

The department explained that the purpose of such videos is to sow panic, undermine trust in official institutions, and destabilize the internal situation.

Additionally, the Moldovan Border Police refuted reports claiming that Ukrainian border guards supposedly have the right to enter Moldova up to 1.5 kilometers for patrols and suspect detention, which is part of ongoing tension escalation.

Since the start of the ‘Fire Shield’ military exercises, active military movements and transport have increased, indicating ongoing preparations for various scenarios.

The Ministry of Defence urges citizens to remain cautious about such fake content and to rely solely on official sources for information.
