Large-Scale Military Operation in Gaza: Israel Prepares to Mobilize Reserves and Complete Occupation
According to the latest reports from Israeli sources, the Israeli government is planning to announce a massive mobilization of reservists in the coming days, marking the first step in executing an ambitious plan to fully occupy the Gaza Strip.
Media outlets have revealed that the government intends to call up tens of thousands of military personnel to conduct a large-scale military operation aimed at seizing key areas within Gaza and forcing the civilian population to move southward, thus minimizing civilian casualties.
The Chief of the Israel Defense Forces, General Eyal Zamir, during a recent meeting, emphasized the importance of reducing risks for the hostages held in Gaza and pointed out that government decisions regarding the operation are critical and require careful planning.
He strongly opposed the security cabinet’s decision made overnight from August 7 to 8, describing it as a serious mistake, and warned that any concessions could destroy the prospects of releasing the captives in the future.
Zamir also stressed the urgent need to build new hospitals in Gaza due to the severe shortage of civilian infrastructure, which complicates humanitarian operations.
Without active humanitarian aid for over a million residents, the plan’s implementation could lead to catastrophic consequences for civilians and make it impossible to free the hostages.
The background of this situation began with the Israeli military-political cabinet’s approval on August 8 to take control of Gaza.
This decision sparked widespread international reactions.
On August 8, the foreign ministers of the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, Italy, and New Zealand issued a joint statement condemning Israel’s actions and calling for diplomatic solutions.
On August 9, over 20 Arab and Muslim countries, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, condemned Israel’s move as a blatant violation of international law and an attempt to entrench illegal occupation against global norms.
Toward the end of the week, a massive protest took place in Tel Aviv, with more than 100,000 people demonstrating against the Prime Minister’s plan for a complete Gaza occupation, demanding an end to military operations and the release of hostages held by Hamas militants.
This situation reflects heightened tensions and public dissatisfaction with government initiatives, posing new political and humanitarian challenges in the region.
