Zelensky Reveals Details of Informal Talks in the UK on Ukraine’s Peace and Security
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky shared extensive details about an informal meeting of national security advisors held in the United Kingdom.
According to Zelensky, the gathering included senior officials from the United States, Ukraine, and European nations such as France, Germany, Italy, Finland, and Poland, signaling a high level of international interest in finding ways to end the war.
He emphasized that the negotiations were constructive, and all parties listened to each other.
“We conveyed our signals and arguments, and our partners are considering all possible dangers and challenges facing Ukraine.
It is crucial that the path to peace is defined jointly, and these united approaches succeed in establishing true peace,” the president noted.
He added that contacts with the American side are maintained almost around the clock through various levels, with not all details being made public to preserve diplomatic options.
The prelude to the meeting was a confirmation in the UK on August 9 of plans to discuss ways to stop Russia’s full-scale aggression involving security advisers from several countries.
According to reputable sources like The Wall Street Journal, Ukraine and European countries presented the US with a plan that could form the basis for future negotiations with Russia to cease hostilities.
Participants included US Vice President D.
J.
Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and trusted envoys of the president — Steve Witkoff and Kit Kellogg.
