Portuguese defender of ‘Oleksandriya’ Miguel Campush receives long-term suspension for violent conduct

At the beginning of the new Ukrainian Premier League season, Portuguese footballer Miguel Campush, who plays for ‘Oleksandriya’, became a subject of attention due to his aggressive and dangerous style of play.
In the first match of the opening round, which ended in a 1:3 defeat of Oleksandriya by ‘Kudrivka’, the defender was sent off with a straight red card.
The incident occurred in the 87th minute when, during a fight for the ball, his fall and confrontation with an opponent led to him striking the player’s face with his cleat.
Leaving the field after the red card, the 28-year-old player did not limit himself to just walking off — he also engaged in a scuffle with other Kudrivka players.
The investigation confirmed that this incident is one of the most prominent this season, as Campush’s violent actions compromised the sports spirit and reputation of Ukrainian football.
It is notable that he has been with ‘Oleksandriya’ since 2024, and last season, he was one of the team leaders, helping the club secure its first-ever Ukrainian championship silver medals.
Earlier reports indicated that the club had sold its Egyptian star player, but this incident further tarnished the team’s image.
Regarding disciplinary sanctions, the Ukrainian Football Association decided to suspend Miguel Campush for five matches, imposing a significant restriction on his participation in upcoming fixtures.
The disciplinary committee emphasizes the importance of maintaining sports integrity and strictly punishing any brutality on the field.
