On the night of August 9, Ukrainian defense forces recorded a significant missile and drone assault launched from Russia.

Preliminary reports indicate that the enemy deployed a total of 47 attack drones of the Shahed type and various decoy drones, along with two Iskander-K cruise missiles.

According to sources, most of these drones were launched from Russian territory, from regions such as Kursk, Millerovo, and Shatalovo, while the missiles were fired from the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia region.

The targets of these attacks included front-line areas in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Donetsk regions, as well as the city of Dnipro, which was hit by the missiles.

Ukrainian air defense units responded swiftly using anti-aircraft missile systems, electronic warfare units, mobile firing groups, and drone systems.

Early assessments confirm that Ukrainian forces successfully downed or suppressed one Iskander-K missile and destroyed 16 enemy drones.

Additionally, 31 drones impacted 15 locations, causing damage but without catastrophic consequences thanks to effective air defense.

The situation underscores the ongoing intensity of Russian attacks and Ukraine’s resilience in repelling these assaults, illustrating the critical role of modern air defense systems in protecting civilian lives and infrastructure.
