Former Law Enforcement Officer Escape: Who, Why, and How Did He Leave Ukraine?

In the Odessa region, an investigation is underway into the case of a former law enforcement officer, Maksym Standratyuk, who illegally crossed the state border and left Ukrainian territory, sparking significant public concern and debate.
According to police, the individual was dismissed from duty some time prior to his departure, and at the time of crossing he held the position of inspector, not the deputy chief of the Izmail patrol police, as some sources reported.
Previously, he temporarily served as acting deputy head of his unit, but had already relinquished that role before the incident.
Law enforcement authorities emphasize that he will bear responsibility according to Ukrainian legislation, while the public is urged to rely solely on verified information and avoid spreading rumors.
Meanwhile, local Telegram channels published videos allegedly from Standratyuk’s Instagram account, where he claims to be in Moldova.
Reports suggest that he intends to retrieve his passport and documents of his partner, which he says were confiscated by police officers.
Earlier reports indicated that he might have fled to Slovakia and sought political asylum there.
Police officials reaffirmed that the actions of the former officer will be properly qualified under law, and called for calm among the citizens and the avoidance of spreading unverified information.
