Zelensky’s Statement: Russia Ignores Deadlines and Escalates the Conflict

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in his nightly address, emphasized that the Russian Federation continues to systematically ignore internationally set deadlines for ceasing hostilities.
This persistent disregard complicates efforts to establish a long-term peace.
According to Zelensky, Ukraine’s diplomatic team has intensified negotiations with global partners, aiming to reach a joint understanding and concrete steps to reduce tensions and foster stability.
He highlighted that real peace can only be achieved if all parties, especially Russia, agree and cooperate.
However, currently, the situation is worsening because Moscow openly refuses to respond to proposed timelines or diplomatic initiatives, raising concerns among the international community.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s ministries and diplomatic bodies continue coordinating their efforts to increase pressure on Moscow.
Office of the President Chief Andriy Yermak stated that high-level negotiations are ongoing with European and American allies regarding sanctions and support.
Zelensky stressed that increasing international pressure is crucial to force Russia into concessions and end the war.
He also expressed gratitude to countries supporting Ukraine and announced that several new sanctions packages have been agreed upon, which will come into effect soon.
Referring to diplomatic talks, Zelensky mentioned the progress made after US Special Envoy Steve Vickoff’s visit to Moscow on August 7, during which Donald Trump reported notable progress.
Trump has also announced plans for an imminent personal meeting with Putin at the end of next week to seek conflict resolution.
