The ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine persists amid intense fighting in regions such as Sieviersk and Bakhmut, where Ukrainian and Russian forces continue fierce battles for control over strategically vital territories. Recent weeks have seen increased activity from both sides, each striving to solidify positions in key settlements. According to the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Ukrainian defenders recently made advances in the area of Serebryanske Forest, northeast of Hryhorivka, while Russian forces aimed to push further towards Sieviersk itself, establishing positions in its eastern part. Reports indicate that on July 4 and 5, Russian troops maintained offensives northeast of Sieviersk, particularly around Verkhniokamianske, Ivan-Darivka, and Viymka, seeking to expand their control. The Ukrainian General Staff reported repelling four enemy assaults in the regions of Verkhniokamianske and Hryhorivka. Meanwhile, in the Kharkiv region, Russian forces were able to seize the village of Milove along with adjacent forests after brief assault operations. This ongoing situation underscores high tension and the complexity of the front lines, which continue to evolve based on the tactical actions of both sides and their current advantages. The determination of Ukrainian troops to defend their territories, coupled with Russian efforts to secure critical points, remains a central factor in the ongoing conflict.
