Ukrainian Tennis Player Jastremska Falls Short at Wimbledon 2025 in Third Round

Ukrainian leading tennis player Dajana Jastremska has exited this year’s Wimbledon after a tough third-round defeat against her Spanish opponent. In a match lasting over an hour and twenty minutes, ranked 42nd in the WTA, Jastremska faced the experienced Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, who was ranked 62nd in the world. Despite intense rallying and competitive play, the Ukrainian player lost in three sets with the score 1:6, 6:2, 3:6. It is also notable that the match was interrupted in the second set due to rain, when Jastremska was leading 3:0. This marked her fourth appearance in Wimbledon’s main draw, and the best result she had achieved so far was reaching the fourth round in 2019. Importantly, Jastremska was the last Ukrainian woman to compete in singles at this year's tournament. In recent years, no Ukrainian player has advanced beyond the third round at Wimbledon, and since 2022, no one from Ukraine has managed to surpass this stage. Wimbledon remains one of the four Grand Slam tournaments held on the iconic courts of London. It bears mentioning that the third-round loss was part of a series of setbacks for Ukrainian women’s tennis, including Elena Svitolina’s defeat against a Belgian opponent earlier this year.
