Russia Accelerates Military Buildup in Armenia Amid Escalating Tensions with Azerbaijan

Following recent escalations in the conflict with Azerbaijan, Moscow has significantly accelerated its efforts to reinforce its military base in Armenia, particularly in the strategic city of Gyumri. According to the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine's Defense Ministry, Russia is actively increasing its troop deployments in occupied territories and within Russian regions, drawing personnel from the Rostov and Volgograd regions, as well as from the temporarily occupied Crimean Peninsula. It appears that Russia aims to solidify its presence in the region and enhance its military capabilities in Armenia, especially given the ongoing instability and tension with Azerbaijan. Additionally, Russian authorities are actively recruiting volunteers from among the peoples of the Caucasus, specifically in North Ossetia and Adygea, indicating their intent to bolster their forces' numbers and combat readiness in the area.
