NATO Secretary General Calls for U.S. Flexibility in Providing Military Support to Ukraine

NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, and other allied officials have emphasized the critical importance of flexible military support from the United States to Ukraine in its ongoing fight against Russian aggression. In a recent statement, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg highlighted that the United States must ensure their stockpiles are maintained at appropriate levels, stressing that such supplies are vital for Ukraine's self-defense capabilities. He pointed out that while Washington has the primary responsibility to safeguard its own strategic interests, it should also demonstrate readiness to support Ukraine’s efforts to resist further Russian escalation. According to Stoltenberg, the allies understand the U.S. administration’s focus on national security and domestic priorities, but they urge continued military assistance, recognizing that Ukraine needs all necessary resources to continue the fight. This call comes amid reports that the Pentagon temporarily halted some missile and air-defense system shipments to Ukraine due to concerns over depleted U.S. inventories. Ukrainian Ministry of Defense officials clarified that no formal notifications regarding suspension or revision of aid schedules had been received, and U.S. government spokespersons denied involvement in any decisions to restrict military aid. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump, urging him to resume and increase the supply of weapons to Ukraine, emphasizing the importance of sustained support to counter Russian aggression effectively.
