Merkel Discovers a Surprising Link Between Leaders’ Phone Calls and Russian Attacks on Ukraine

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has raised concerns about a clear, disturbing pattern linking phone conversations between US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin with subsequent massive attacks by Russia on Ukraine. According to government spokesperson Stefan Kornelius, every time Trump and Putin engage in a call, Ukraine faces intensified shelling and assaults. The recent case, where Russia launched a large-scale attack using 'Kinzhal' missiles, 'Iskander' systems, and attack drones, confirming this pattern, resulted in significant destruction particularly in Kyiv. Kornelius emphasized that these attacks speak for themselves and could influence future decisions regarding sanctions against Russia. This tactic acts as a stark signal to the United States and the international community: Russia refuses to cease its aggression and ignores calls for peace. Experts warn that such actions exacerbate regional instability and necessitate a reassessment of Western strategies to support Ukraine. Not only Merkel but all Ukraine supporters see this as a direct message from Moscow: the Kremlin does not intend to stop its campaign and will continue demonstrating its power and resolve. It is noteworthy that on July 3, Trump and Putin had a phone conversation lasting over an hour. On the night of July 4, Russia launched its largest missile and drone attack of the war, deploying more than 550 projectiles targeting mostly Kyiv. During this conversation, Trump reiterated the need for a ceasefire, while Putin expressed readiness to continue negotiations and pursue his strategic goals. This was their fourth phone call in recent weeks, and it further underscored the heightened tensions and ongoing conflict. Moscow's actions and rhetoric reveal that for Russia, war is not a temporary phase but a strategic objective, and they are prepared to pursue it without concessions until their goals are achieved.
