London’s Chelsea Football Club has once again made a significant move in the transfer market by officially announcing the signing of promising young English winger Jamie Hitchen from Borussia Dortmund. The 20-year-old player signed a contract that extends until July 2032. According to Transfermarkt, the transfer fee amounted to a record 64.3 million euros. Hitchen, a product of Manchester City’s youth academy, joined Borussia Dortmund in 2020 and made his debut in 2022. Since then, he has gained valuable experience, playing 107 matches in all competitions, scoring 17 goals, and providing 14 assists. Interestingly, Hitchen operates on the same flank as Chelsea’s Ukrainian forward Mykhailo Mudryk, who is currently under sanctions and facing a lengthy ban for doping violations. It is also reported that Chelsea has transferred Mudryk’s traditional jersey number to their new star, indicating a strategic shift within the team and a move towards building a new future amid ongoing player changes.
