Women and Military Registration During Martial Law: Potential Fines and Legal Implications

Amid the ongoing martial law in Ukraine and the mobilization efforts, legal clarifications have become crucial, especially for women with medical or pharmaceutical backgrounds. Experts warn that women who neglect proper military registration risk facing substantial administrative penalties. It’s important to understand that while Ukraine implements voluntary mobilization for women, certain categories, such as medical and pharmaceutical professionals, are mandated to register with military authorities. According to legal professionals, women with medical qualifications are required to register with the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centers (TCCS), even if they are not currently practicing according to their profession. Being on the military register does not automatically lead to conscription or restrictions on foreign travel. Non-compliance with registration procedures is penalized under Article 210 of the Ukrainian Administrative Code, with first violations resulting in fines ranging from 850 to 1700 UAH, and repeat violations within a year potentially attracting fines up to 2550 UAH. Furthermore, lawyers emphasize that employers are not permitted to hire women with medical degrees who have not registered properly or obtained military documents, thereby complicating employment prospects for those who neglect registration. Earlier explanations from legal expert Valeria Hudiya clarified the responsibilities of women after registration, underlining the importance of adhering strictly to regulations to avoid penalties and legal sanctions.
