Trump Pledges Support to Ukraine’s Air Defense During Call with Zelensky

Amid the ongoing intensive military actions and increasing Russian air strikes in Ukraine, former U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated his readiness to assist Kyiv in countering Russian aggression. On Friday, during a lengthy phone conversation with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, Trump clearly expressed his intention to support Ukraine with air defense systems, emphasizing that the United States aims to do everything possible to strengthen Ukraine's military capabilities amidst escalating Russian attacks. According to information obtained from two independent sources reported by 'European Pravda', the call lasted approximately 40 minutes and focused primarily on Ukraine's need for modern air defense equipment and other military supplies. These sources indicated that Trump was aware of recent escalation efforts by Russia, including air strikes on Ukrainian cities and frontline areas. In his remarks, Trump stressed that his goal is to help Ukraine establish an effective air defense and promised to investigate what exactly might have been suspended in military aid, if such restrictions existed. Ukrainian sources also confirmed that the two leaders agreed that U.S. and Ukrainian representatives would soon meet to discuss the supply of air defense systems and other weaponry. Previously, Zelensky discussed the ongoing battlefield situation, air defense supplies, and potential joint military manufacturing with the American president. Notably, on July 3, Trump had a call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which he admitted that he did not achieve progress on the Ukraine war and expressed his disappointment with the current situation.
