In recent weeks, the boxing world has been buzzing with discussions about a potential third bout between current heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk and former division king Tyson Fury. Representatives from the Ukrainian boxer's team openly express their interest and confidence in making such a fight happen, especially since their second encounter, decided by judges' decision, culminated in Usyk's victory. According to Serhiy Lapin, Usyk's team director, the idea of a third fight has been discussed since their second clash. He emphasized that with the strong support of Goldstar Promotions, they are actively working to turn this ambitious plan into reality. Notably, Usyk defeated Fury twice in 2024 — in May and December — with Fury subsequently announcing his retirement. However, in July, Tyson Fury publicly challenged Usyk to a third fight, setting the date for April 18, 2026. Prior reports also indicated that Fury's former opponent might have already refused to face the Ukrainian boxer, casting some doubt on the realization of this highly anticipated matchup.
