Recent events and the massive attacks by Russia on Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, underscore once again the critical importance of international response to Vladimir Putin’s aggressive moves. Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Andriy Sibyga, took to his social media account on X to emphasize that the recent large-scale assault on Kyiv serves as a stark signal to the global community. He pointed out that immediately after a phone call between U.S. President Donald Trump and the Russian leader, Vladimir Putin launched an unprecedented barrage of drone and missile strikes against the Ukrainian capital — over 550 devices in the night of July 4 alone, of which only 478 were intercepted. Sibyga expressed his conviction that this calculated and deliberate aggression demonstrates Putin’s blatant disregard for diplomatic efforts and a clear intent to escalate the conflict further. He called on the international community to respond with the strongest possible sanctions against Russia and to supply Ukraine with all necessary weapons systems for self-defense. "The time for waiting for peace is over," he stated. "Action is needed to attain peace through force. This is the only way to achieve the long-awaited stability and peace in the region." The Ukrainian minister also warned that ill-considered decisions or delays in response could only encourage Russian aggression, pushing Putin to new levels of terror. He emphasized that all criminal regimes around the world are closely monitoring Putin’s actions and the international reactions; if these reactions are weak or ineffective, it will only embolden further acts of violence. As a reminder, in the night of July 4, Russian forces launched a large-scale attack involving more than 550 drones and missiles, successfully intercepting 478 of them. Kyiv remained the primary target, with debris falling in five districts and 14 people reported injured.
