Recent comments made by U.S. President Donald Trump during a phone conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin have sparked discussions and concern in Moscow. According to official sources, Trump expressed his disappointment with recent events and signaled potential shifts in Washington's political course. In response, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov emphasized that Moscow is closely monitoring all statements from the American administration. He noted that during the call, Putin reiterated Russia's interest in achieving its goals within the framework of a 'special military operation'—primarily through political and diplomatic means, which the Kremlin considers the only viable approach. Peskov also added that Russia should continue the war but concealed the fact that it is precisely diplomatic obstacles—possibly caused by Moscow itself—that hinder the resolution. Russian state media reports that during the conversation, Putin told Trump that Russia's role in shaping new political realities in the U.S. is significant and justified, also affirming that the aggressor country will not retreat from its aims in Ukraine. Thus, Moscow once again confirms its firm stance on the ongoing war while maintaining a diplomatic tone in public statements.
