Kyiv Region Uncovers Illegal Scheme of Transferring Soldiers from Combat Units to Rear Units for Bribes

The Office of the Prosecutor General and the Security Service of Ukraine have revealed a large-scale corruption scheme involving two brothers who facilitated the illegal reassignment of servicemen from active combat units to logistical rear units. According to investigators, these men, leveraging their influence within the Kyiv Military Clinical Hospital, established an illicit mechanism that enabled military personnel to change their unit placements by using forged documentation. They actively sought out clients, who paid approximately $15,000 USD in bribes in exchange for fake medical certificates and false diagnoses regarding their health conditions. Such documents allowed soldiers serving in combat roles to be officially transferred to rear units, thus reducing their exposure to enemy fire and improving their service conditions. Authorities have detained two Kyiv residents, believed to be the organizers of this scheme. To carry out their criminal activities, they involved five medical professionals to assist in creating fraudulent documents. The investigation continues, and the court is currently considering measures to detain other accomplices involved in this illegal operation.
