The Ukrainian Armed Forces intentionally targeted and significantly diminished the military-industrial capabilities of Russian aggression by conducting a precise strike on a key defense industrial complex facility located in the town of Yelets, Lipetsk region. This strategic enterprise, known as the ‘Energy’ plant, plays a crucial role in supplying Russia’s armed forces with essential components. Ukrainian General Staff confirmed the operation, which was carried out during the night of July 3rd using unmanned aerial systems in coordination with other defense units. According to military sources, the attack targeted the plant responsible for manufacturing batteries and power sources for various weapon systems employed by the Russian military, including missile systems and artillery shells. Specifically, the ‘Energy’ factory produced power elements for universal flight control and correction modules, turning ordinary free-fall bombs into precision-guided munitions with extended range. The plant also supplied batteries and energy systems for tactical missile complexes such as ‘Iskander-M’, naval Kalibr cruise missiles, and Kh-35U maritime cruise missiles. Following the attack, explosions occurred on the plant’s premises, and production capacities have been halted. Efforts are ongoing to determine the full extent of the damage. Notably, earlier on the same day, Russian authorities reported drone attacks in several regions, including Lipeck and Yelets, where explosions were heard as infrastructure was targeted. This operation underscores Ukraine’s growing effectiveness in degrading enemy’s military infrastructure, contributing to the strategic weakening of Russian forces.
