On July 3rd, the city of Poltava in central Ukraine experienced a significant drone attack that resulted in serious consequences for both military personnel and civilians. The strikes targeted the Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support (TCCS) and the Military and Civil Administration Office, key military institutions responsible for mobilization and personnel management. As a result of the attacks, two service members from the TCCS and two Ukrainian Defense Forces employees were injured and hospitalized. According to Vitaliy Sarantsev, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Ground Forces command, the strikes hit two main objectives: one on the city’s TCCS premises and another on the regional TCCS. Both targets are located in densely populated urban areas, making civilian casualties almost inevitable for those nearby administrative buildings. Among the injured are also civilians not directly involved in military activities. Currently, there is no official information regarding possible fatalities, but the threat of further strikes remains high. Ukrainian military officials emphasize that this attack was a deliberate attempt by Russia to disrupt Ukraine’s mobilization efforts. In recent days, the enemy has intensified such strikes aiming to destabilize the country further. Ukrainian forces assure that mobilization cannot be stopped, and Russian military efforts to undermine Ukraine’s stability will not succeed in the long run. It is also noteworthy that earlier, in the morning, Russian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) attacked Poltava, causing a fire in the building of the city’s TCCS and the Social Support Center, resulting in two deaths and 11 injuries. This ongoing escalation highlights how the war continues to impact peaceful civilians and increases regional tensions.
