A recent and significant development occurred in the Kursk region, specifically near the town of Korenevo, where one of Russia’s top military officials — Deputy Commander of the Russian Navy and former commander of the 155th Guards Marine Brigade of the Pacific Fleet, Admiral Mikhail Gudkov — was killed. This event has garnered extensive attention in Russian propaganda media, as Gudkov was not only a high-ranking officer but also a recipient of the prestigious 'Hero of Russia' award and held the rank of Guards Major General. According to information provided by Oleg Kozhemyako, governor of Primorsky Krai, Gudkov was killed as a result of a large-scale airstrike carried out by Ukrainian forces targeting a military command center. Reports indicate that at least four missiles struck the facility, leading to the deaths of over ten Russian soldiers, including many senior officers and commanders. This tragic incident serves as another proof of the active countermeasures undertaken by Ukraine, striking strategic command points and military leadership. Initial reports from international sources and journalists suggest that Gudkov was killed during an attack on a command post, which was reportedly targeted as part of Kyiv’s efforts to neutralize key Russian military leaders. His death symbolizes a significant blow to the Russian command structure within the ongoing conflict. Earlier, in mid-June, Ukrainian Armed Forces eliminated another Russian officer — Major Andrei Yartsev, commander of a motorized rifle battalion of the 30th Motor Rifle Regiment. The operation was carried out in the Sumy region, where Yartsev was reportedly sent as a form of punishment for failures on the battlefield. Ukrainian military officer Anatoliy Shtefan confirmed this, emphasizing that such measures are part of Kyiv’s systematic efforts to weaken enemy command and control. These incidents vividly demonstrate the resilience and effectiveness of Ukraine’s military resistance, which continues to inflict substantial losses on Russian military leadership at various levels. Such developments give hope for a quicker resolution to the conflict and eventual restoration of peace and justice in the region.
