Evolving Support for Ukraine: Are the U.S. Supplies Being Halted or Not?

In Kyiv, discussions are ongoing regarding reports about potential suspension of U.S. military aid to Ukraine. On one hand, Ukrainian officials claim that Washington has supposedly stopped all weapon deliveries, including ammunition for air defense systems and spare parts. On the other hand, U.S. authorities deny these claims, insisting that assistance continues as usual. In Kyiv, there are even suspicions that such discrepancies might be part of political games or internal maneuvers by the Donald Trump administration, allegedly aiming to extract political concessions from Ukraine. Similar concerns surfaced in early March and are now gaining renewed attention. Experts note that at a time when the U.S. appears to suspend or reduce military aid, including air defense ammunition, the level of support for Ukraine seems to be waning. Particularly worrying is the fact that the current draft federal budget, circulating through Congress, does not allocate funds even for previously planned assistance to Kyiv. U.S. officials warn that in the 2026 fiscal year, the aid amounts previously allocated could be further cut or abolished altogether. Conversely, Kyiv’s leadership responds cautiously, stating that they are currently clarifying the situation to determine their next steps. President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasizes that Ukraine must ensure the safety of its citizens and that the investigation into the aid situation continues, with no final decisions made yet.
