Demychenko warns: Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups continue active operations at the border, engaging in mine-laying and intelligence despite reduced activity

Andriy Demychenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGS), recently made a significant statement regarding the ongoing situation on the Ukrainian frontline, specifically in the border regions of Sumy and Kharkiv oblasts. He emphasized that although the activity of sabotage and reconnaissance groups (SRGs) has decreased considerably, Russian occupiers have not abandoned their traditional tactics. These include conducting mining operations, scouting of Ukrainian defensive lines, and trying to capture defenders. According to Demychenko, Ukrainian forces are actively countering these threats by employing modern surveillance technology and drone systems to monitor the borders and frontier areas, allowing rapid response to any enemy infiltration attempts. Meanwhile, security experts raise alarms about the deteriorating state of fortifications within the country. Due to poor quality and insufficient reinforcement of defensive structures, Ukraine is losing territories, which compromises national security and hampers ongoing military efforts.
