Demchenko Reports Changes in Enemy Tactics on Sumy Direction: Reduced Activity and New Defensive Positions
Andriy Demchenko, spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, made a significant statement regarding the situation on the Sumy front during a recent telethon. According to him, the invading Russian forces have notably decreased their activity in this region, reflected in a reduction in the use of motorcycle equipment and other mobile means of combat. This suggests that the enemy is either reorienting their forces or decreasing the intensity of hostilities in this sector. Meanwhile, Ukrainian defenders remain alert, holding the line and preventing small assault groups from advancing beyond the borders within the Khotyn and Yunakivka communities. The situation on the front remains tense: the aggressors continue to launch missile strikes on Sumy, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions, often utilizing aircraft to deliver both uncontrolled and guided missile attacks, which substantially threaten local populations and infrastructure. Ukrainian troops have recently advanced in the area of the border village of Oleksiyivka and liberated Andriivka from occupying forces, demonstrating effective counteroffensive operations. Reports indicate that Russia has concentrated over 50,000 troops in the Sumy sector. Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi emphasized that their advance has been halted and that Ukrainian forces are effectively holding back the enemy's offensive. However, media outlets warn that Kyiv's forces in this sector are nearly three times fewer than the Russian troops, which complicates the situation and calls for increased defensive measures.
