Amid recent developments on the international stage, Denmark has voiced significant concerns regarding the reduction of U.S. military assistance to Ukraine, raising alarms across European leadership circles. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen emphasized that any decrease in support from the United States constitutes a serious setback not only for Ukraine but also for Europe and NATO as a whole. She pointed out that such a reduction could negatively impact the ongoing conflict and regional stability. Meanwhile, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen highlighted that this move serves as a clear signal for the EU to strengthen its own support by increasing arms production and maintaining sanctions against Russia. She stressed, "The war in Ukraine is a fight for Europe's future, and we must act collectively and decisively." Denmark’s Prime Minister also indicated her country's full support for Ukraine’s NATO membership, even if not all allies share this view, emphasizing that it is equally vital for Ukraine to join the European Union. Regarding arms supplies, U.S. Defense Secretary Sean Parnell mentioned that after halting some weapon shipments to Ukraine, the Pentagon continues to explore options for further military assistance from the Trump administration. However, such decisions will depend on U.S. strategic interests and priorities under the “America First” policy. Supplies may be resumed after evaluating stock levels. The Ukraine support issue remains a priority in both U.S. and European security policies.
