Sweden allocates nearly 600 million hryvnias to enhance Ukraine’s cybersecurity through international support initiatives

As part of active international cooperation in cybersecurity, Sweden has made a significant contribution to supporting Ukraine's digital sector by providing over 590 million hryvnias (approximately 16 million euros). This assistance is part of a broader program coordinated by the Stockholm-based agency for international development, Styrelsen för Internationellt Utvecklingssamarbete (Sida). Under this initiative, involving 11 partner countries, Ukraine's digital infrastructure will undergo modernization and strengthening to withstand growing cyber threats and attacks. The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine has reported that in 2024 alone, Ukrainian government agencies experienced more than two thousand cyberattacks, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced cybersecurity measures. The new financial aid will be used to upgrade IT infrastructure, enhance protection of digital services, and train key government personnel, ensuring uninterrupted state operations and accessible online services for citizens in any circumstances. The funds will be transferred through the Estonian government’s Estonian Centre for International Development, which manages international development projects and humanitarian aid. Previously, Sweden contributed nearly 30 million dollars to Ukraine's support efforts within NATO initiatives and delivered the 19th package of military assistance worth over 440 million euros, reaffirming its firm commitment to Ukraine's sovereignty and security.
