Following the recent announcement by the United States government regarding the temporary suspension of some military aid supplies to Ukraine, the international community is closely monitoring statements and positions of key allies. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg expressed understanding of Washington's strategic priorities but emphasized the urgent need to support Ukraine in its ongoing conflict. According to Stoltenberg, while the U.S. has the right to prioritize its military assistance, Ukraine requires maximal support in the short term, particularly in ammunition and air defense systems. He recalled that during last week's NATO summit, Ukrainian and American presidents discussed missile defense and other security measures extensively. The NATO chief also pointed out that European countries are increasing their defense expenditures and aid to Ukraine, but without direct U.S. support, success would be difficult to achieve. “Experience has shown that stability in this war and long-term security for Europe and the U.S. are closely interconnected,” Stoltenberg emphasized. It is noteworthy that on July 1, the White House officially confirmed that due to depleted stockpiles, the Pentagon has halted the supply of certain high-precision munitions and missile systems to Ukraine. The Ukrainian side, however, claims not to have received official notifications about halts or changes in the approved aid timeline. The level of support and mutual understanding among allies remains critical in determining the future outcome of this conflict.
