The European Union's leading diplomat, Kaja Kallas, has once again emphasized the importance of an immediate and unconditional revival of negotiations with Iran regarding its nuclear program. On Tuesday, she held a phone conversation with Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abas Araji, during which she stressed the need for Iran to quickly return to talks and renew cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which plays a crucial role in monitoring and controlling Tehran's nuclear activities. Kallas pointed out that threats to exit the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) only deepen the international tensions and undermine diplomatic efforts to resolve the crisis. According to official sources, on June 17, Iran announced that its parliament is actively preparing a bill to withdraw from the NPT, raising further concerns on the global stage. Araji highlighted Iran’s deep mistrust of the United States, emphasizing that this distrust complicates diplomatic negotiations for mutual understanding. Simultaneously, he condemned the positions taken by some European countries and IAEA Director Rafael Grossi, which, according to Araji, adopt a destructive stance regarding the conflict between Israel and Iran. Amid rising regional tensions, fears over Iran's nuclear ambitions are intensifying. Since the collapse of the 2015 nuclear deal and a major US airstrike on uranium enrichment facilities in Iran on June 21, world leaders have been increasingly active in diplomatic efforts to prevent potential escalation. While Israeli forces and Iranian positions continue to confront each other, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Tuesday the successful conclusion of an operation aimed at curtailing Iran’s nuclear capabilities. Analysts note that Iran’s nuclear program has experienced delays and vulnerabilities, lasting only a few months. Meanwhile, the ceasefire announced last week, initiated by US President Donald Trump, remains in effect. Netanyahu’s team has also announced plans for him to visit the United States next week for talks with Trump, indicating ongoing diplomatic engagement and regional stability efforts. The international community, including the G7 foreign ministers, issued a joint statement during a recent meeting, expressing support for the ceasefire between Israel and Iran and calling for renewed negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program to prevent further escalation.
