In Cherkasy, Ukrainian security forces uncovered and detained a 20-year-old student from a local university involved in directing Russian missile and drone strikes against the region. According to investigators, the young man actively searched for potential targets and impact sites, functioning as an information broker for Russian forces. This included creating detailed photographic reports of infrastructure and strategic objects, enabling the Russians to plan more precise attacks. It has been established that he previously lived in Luhansk but moved to Cherkasy even before the full-scale invasion, where he began communicating with Russian agents through the popular messaging app Telegram, seeking 'easy money.' He was recruited by Russians and assigned crucial tasks — locating Ukrainian military radar station positions to aid in preparing complex air operations. Additionally, he spied on the regional police headquarters, trying to assess their external perimeter security and readiness. Ukrainian Security Service officers identified him early in his reconnaissance activities; during searches at his residence, they seized a phone containing a prepared 'report' for the FSB. A criminal case has been opened for treason (Part 2, Article 111 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code), and he faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property. Previously, Ukrainian law enforcement detained another Russian agent in Kharkiv, who attempted to deliver a mined scooter to Ukrainian defenders, with the explosives activated by Russians when two soldiers approached the vehicle.
