What Ukrainians Can Expect in July: New Gas and Utility Tariffs

As the second month of summer approaches, Ukrainians face questions regarding changes in housing and utility costs, particularly for natural gas. While many consumers are accustomed to annual fixed tariffs, the market conditions fluctuate monthly, and July is no exception. Citizens are required to regularly submit meter readings and make payments, even minimal ones, to maintain stability in their utility bills. Nine companies operating in the gas supply sector have officially announced their price proposals for July, prompting a need to understand current tariff dynamics. Economists forecast that the fundamental annual gas proposals, which serve as the primary basis for most Ukrainian households, remain unchanged—ranging from 7.79 to 9.99 hryvnias per cubic meter. However, monthly (market-based) prices have increased significantly, exceeding 30 hryvnias per cubic meter in July. This mainly affects suppliers like Naftogaz Ukraine and other commercial providers offering both long-term and short-term rates. Among the most popular offers is the 7.96 hryvnias per cubic meter rate from Naftogaz, which remains valid until April 30, 2026, serving over 98% of residential consumers. This means that despite rising monthly market prices, gas costs for most Ukrainians will stay stable, primarily because long-term tariffs are prioritized. Experts emphasize that companies do not have the right to unilaterally switch consumers from annual to monthly tariffs without their consent. What can consumers expect on July 1? Here are some examples of current prices: Energy Trade Group offers a basic annual rate of 7.799 UAH and a monthly rate of 9.977 UAH; LvivEnergoZbut provides an annual tariff of 8.20 UAH and a monthly of 30.55 UAH. Kyiv Energetic Services (YASNO) offers both tariffs at 8.46 UAH. Overall, Ukrainian consumers should prepare for a market where prices are rising, but significant changes in tariffs are not anticipated, emphasizing stability and consumer protection.
