Ukrainian General Staff Launches Comprehensive Audit of Drone Defense Systems to Strengthen National Security

In a bid to bolster Ukraine's defensive capabilities amid growing threats, the Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff has initiated a thorough and comprehensive audit of all structures and resources responsible for countering Russian drones. This decision was announced by Chief of Staff, Major General Andriy Hnatyov, emphasizing the importance of a systematic approach to optimizing the operations of relevant units and military authorities. According to Hnatyov, with the increasing danger posed by Russian unmanned aerial vehicles, particularly attack drones, urgent modernization of technical infrastructure, enhancement of recruitment and training of drone crews, and strengthening logistical support are paramount. The military leadership highlighted that this initiative aims to improve coordination and enable faster response to challenges posed by the enemy, who utilizes UAVs as a key element of modern warfare. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly stated that Russia is actively investing in UAV production and intends to increase the number of drones employed in strikes across Ukraine. Consequently, a special drone forces unit named 'Unmanned Systems Forces' has been established within the defense structures, encompassing all military units working with UAVs as well as drone lines dedicated to defense and reconnaissance missions. Additionally, priority measures are being taken to improve technological equipment, personnel training, and protection of critical infrastructure facilities. This consolidation of efforts across all defense agencies and commands is aimed at creating an effective drone countermeasure system. Such strategies are critical for enhancing the country’s resilience and reducing losses during enemy attacks involving unmanned systems.
