The Ukrainian Defense Forces' General Staff officially announced the successful targeting of a strategic facility in Izhevsk, which belongs to the Russian military-industrial complex and plays a crucial role in manufacturing modern air defense missile systems. On July 1, Ukraine launched a precise missile strike against the Izhevsk Electro-Mechanical Plant 'Kupil,' located in the Udmurt Republic of Russia. This plant specializes in the production of small-range air defense missile complexes, including systems widely used within Russian military operations. According to the General Staff, the attack resulted in direct hits on Building No. 1 at Site No. 1 of the plant, causing a fire whose details are still being clarified. This action was part of a broader effort aimed at weakening the enemy’s air defense capabilities and reducing their ability to protect vital strategic assets. Earlier that day, the plant suffered a drone attack, utilizing upgraded kamikaze drones 'Lutiy,' capable of destroying targets such as S-400 and Osa missile systems, as well as armed drones 'Gharpia.' The plant is situated over 1,500 kilometers from Ukraine’s border, deep in Udmurtia, yet the Ukrainian military's precise strikes demonstrate the increasing resilience and reach of Ukraine’s defensive operations, as well as the significant challenges faced by Russian forces in maintaining comprehensive protection of their key military-industrial facilities.
