Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a significant address to the nation and international partners, highlighting shifts in the aggressor's tactics — Russia. According to him, Russia is significantly ramping up its unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) capabilities, investing substantial resources into the production and deployment of drones for strikes across Ukrainian territory and infrastructure. Zelensky pointed out that Moscow plans not only to increase the number of drones used in attacks but also to improve their efficiency with advanced interception and counter-drone systems. For Ukraine, the key challenge is bolstering defensive capabilities — primarily in the field of air defense (AD). The president emphasized that Ukrainian drone manufacturers and tech companies are working at the limits, developing interceptors and AD systems to secure safety and stability at the front line. Zelensky further stated that a strategic goal is to establish systemic production of air defense complexes, which would allow the country to significantly enhance its protective capacities and counter air-based destructive assaults. These measures are crucial for reforming Ukraine's defense strategy and increasing its resilience against modern air threats, ensuring the country's security in these turbulent times.
