Transparency and Combating Misinformation: June’s Report on the Ukrainian Ground Forces’ Mobilization and Current Challenges

In June of this year, the command of Ukraine’s Ground Forces publicly released a comprehensive report detailing the activities of the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centers (TCSC), amid ongoing military mobilization and the country's state of war. The announcement was made via the official Telegram channel of the Ground Forces, where key aspects of the units' operations were highlighted. According to the report, only seven incidents were recorded during the month, of which six—approximately 86%—were found to be manipulated, false news, or cyber-propaganda. Meanwhile, just 36 cases, or 14%, were verified as genuine — involving disciplinary actions such as one person being suspended from duties, five individuals facing disciplinary measures, and thirty investigations still underway. The Ground Forces emphasized the importance of full transparency to the public: all violations, investigations, and consequences for law-breaking personnel must be openly communicated. Such openness is crucial in strengthening public trust and counteracting extensive misinformation campaigns financed by the enemy, aimed at destabilizing Ukrainian society. As Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov stated, a new senior official will soon be appointed within the Ground Forces leadership, charged with overseeing personnel development, recruitment, and mobilization processes, to enhance the country’s military resilience and readiness for future challenges.
