High-Budget AI-Created Animated Series Set to Premiere This Summer, Breaking New Ground in Entertainment

This July, the world will witness the debut of a groundbreaking animated series that harnesses the latest advancements in artificial intelligence technology. This marked first in the industry, the project represents a massive, high-cost production developed entirely with AI support under the supervision of experienced human professionals. Titled 'Cat Biggie,' the series tells the humorous and touching story of a cat who accidentally adopts a chick, unfolding across 30 episodes each lasting about two minutes. The show’s launch on YouTube aims to reach a broad global audience, as reported by the influential entertainment magazine Variety. What sets this series apart from others worldwide is its innovative approach to production—using AI at every stage, from initial planning to final distribution and marketing. A team of six specialists actively managed the AI's workflow, guiding its development over five months of intense work, a feat that challenges traditional animation practices. Shin Keun-sup, CJ ENM’s Chief Strategy Officer, emphasized during the presentation that: “We are integrating AI throughout the entire content creation process. This approach enables us to develop next-generation intellectual property that is both innovative and economically efficient.” The premiere coincided with CJ ENM’s broader strategic initiative to embed AI into their content creation pipeline. Building on this success, the company plans to extend the use of AI-based processes into other genres and formats, leveraging its position as a giant within South Korea’s entertainment industry. Already, CJ ENM has developed and integrated two AI systems: Cinematic AI, which assists in creating narrative content like series and feature films, and AI Script, an analytical platform designed to evaluate market trends and consumer preferences. Cinematic AI is capable of combining images, videos, music, and voice into cohesive products, automating the production of complex scenes with 3D characters and backgrounds while optimizing scene composition—a challenging aspect of AI integration in filmmaking. Meanwhile, AI Script offers market analysis and helps identify promising themes and genres aligned with current demands. It understands human communication subtleties and cultural nuances, vital for targeting a global audience, given CJ ENM’s extensive international reach. The company already boasts significant successes, including producing the Oscar-winning film ‘Parasite’ in 2020. The integration of AI into production processes signals a new era for CJ ENM and potentially the entire entertainment industry, opening avenues for more innovative, efficient, and globally appealing content.
