This night, Ukrainian forces suffered a heavy loss: during a combat mission, the first-class pilot and Lieutenant Colonel, Maxim Ustymenko — one of the most experienced and dedicated defenders of Ukraine’s skies — was killed. This tragic event was reported by the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in their official Telegram channel. Born in 1993, Maxim Ustymenko was an experienced pilot who carried out extremely complex combat missions in the fight for Ukraine's independence and territorial integrity, demonstrating courage and professionalism. According to sources within the command, on the night of June 29, when the country was repelling a massive air strike, this heroic soldier conducted a combat sortie on an F-16 fighter jet. During the mission, the colonel employed the full range of aviation weapons, destroying seven air targets — thereby exemplifying his dedication and professionalism. However, during the engagement with the final target, the aircraft sustained significant damage, and the cockpit began to lose altitude. Realizing the importance of maintaining low altitude for the safety of others and civilians, Maxim Ustymenko did everything possible to steer the aircraft away from populated areas to prevent tragedy among civilians. Unfortunately, due to extensive damage that prevented ejection, he did not have time to parachute down. The hero tragically crashed, giving his life for his homeland. Just minutes after the incident, his comrades-in-arms and command expressed their heartfelt condolences to Maxim’s family, calling him a true hero who did everything possible to defend Ukraine. The report states that Maxim was born in 1993 and was a worthy pillar of Ukraine’s skies, who, in his brief but bright life, embodied bravery, high professionalism, and an unbreakable spirit. Admirers of his heroic act and his fellow servicemen bid farewell with words: “Eternal flight, brother. You did all you could.” This tragic incident further illustrates the high price Ukrainian defenders pay in their fight for freedom and justice. On the same day, the country endured powerful shelling, with the enemy once again deploying "Kinzhal" missiles, "Caliber" missiles, and drones. Cities and regions, including Kremenchuk, Poltava, Dnipro, Mykolaiv, and Lviv region, were once again hit by enemy strikes, reminding everyone of the cost of peace and security for each Ukrainian.
