Russian Attack in Mykolaiv: Infrastructure Facility Damaged in Shelling

On the night of June 29, Russian military forces launched an attack on Mykolaiv, targeting a critical infrastructure object with ballistic missiles and "Shahed" drones. As a result, a large fire broke out in the city, which was quickly contained by emergency services. The incident further confirms that Ukrainian cities remain at risk from Russian military strikes, which continue to deliberately target vital infrastructure facilities. According to Vitaliy Kim, the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, the attack began around 01:28 AM when Russian rockets were launched at the city from the enemy’s side. Later, at approximately 02:56 AM, several groups of "Shahed" drones, models 131 and 136, were used against Mykolaiv. "As a result of the attack, one of the infrastructure objects was damaged. A large fire broke out, which was quickly localized and extinguished by firefighters. Preliminary reports indicate that several warehouse buildings in the area were damaged. Fortunately, no one among the population or personnel present at the site was injured," Vitaliy Kim said in a media comment. It is worth noting that Russian forces are intentionally intensifying pressure on Ukrainian infrastructure, aiming to increase economic and humanitarian pressure on the country. Despite the efforts of Ukrainian rescuers and the military to quickly address the aftermath, this nocturnal attack once again highlights the difficult situation Ukraine faces and the ongoing risks that remain unresolved. Local residents near the epicenter of the event reported loud explosions, visual effects, and alarm signals throughout the district. Rescue workers promptly arrived at the scene and gained control of the fire, while police initiated an investigation to determine the precise number and directions of the strikes. This nighttime attack serves as another reminder that Mykolaiv and the entire southern Ukraine region are still active combat zones, where the Russian army employs various tactics to destroy critical infrastructure. Ukrainian authorities urge citizens to remain calm and be prepared for possible new provocations and attacks in the future, while making every effort to protect and restore the damaged facilities.
