Massive Russian Attack on Khmelnytskyi Region Leaves Hundreds Without Power and Damages Infrastructure

On the night of Sunday, June 29, the Khmelnytskyi region experienced another intense wave of enemy assaults carried out by Russian forces. According to Ukrainian authorities, the invaders employed attack drones and precision-guided missiles to inflict widespread damage and strike at critical regional infrastructure. As a result of this raid, around 150 consumers in a settlement of the Shepetivskyi district were left without electricity, plunging the area into darkness. Targets included residential buildings and educational institutions — notably, window damage was reported in a school. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries. Head of the Khmelnytskyi regional military administration, Serhii Tyurin, stated that two X-101 missiles and over thirty kamikaze drones—of which 21 were destroyed on the spot—were shot down by Ukrainian air defense. Several other drones were also intercepted and eliminated. Over Ukraine, Russian forces launched more than 470 drones and dozens of missiles of various types, including Kalibr, Kinzhal, Iskander-M/KN-23, X-101/Iskander-K, and S-300 systems. Ukrainian defenders successfully downed 475 airborne targets. Unfortunately, during this intense air defense operation, Ukrainian pilot Lieutenant Colonel Maxim Ustymenko lost his life. The attack caused damage to critical infrastructure in Lviv region, injured a woman in Ivano-Frankivsk, and resulted in several injuries in Smilia, Cherkasy region, where multiple residential buildings, a college of the National University of Food Technologies, and other facilities suffered significant destruction. In Poltava, the main and suburban railway stations were damaged. The Ukrainian military's resilience and bravery continue to stand firm in defending the nation against relentless aggressors.
