On the night of June 26 to 27, Ukrainian military units, including Special Operations Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Security Service, executed a powerful strike on the Russian military airfield «Marinovka» located in the Volgograd region. This operation marked a significant event, as satellite images obtained through advanced technology and publicly shared by analytical groups confirmed extensive losses in Russian aviation resulting from this attack. According to OSINT analysts from the CyberBoroshno platform, at least two Su-34 aircraft were destroyed, with two others sustaining serious damage. One of the images captured traces of an alleged detonation of aircraft-mounted weapons, highlighting the extent of destruction. Comparative satellite images from Sentinel-1 taken on June 25 revealed that multiple aircraft were based in this area. An unofficial Telegram channel of the Russian Air Forces, Fighterbomber, previously reported multi-billion dollar losses due to the Ukrainian strike, implying these damages could have been prevented. The night operation damaged at least four Su-34 fighter jets and affected the technical zone responsible for maintenance and repair of the military aircraft, which will undoubtedly influence Russia’s air capabilities.
