During the night of June 28 to 29, the capital of Ukraine once again became the epicenter of unexpected and alarming events. That evening, just a few minutes before midnight, loud explosions were heard in the Obolon district, which residents of the city perceived as distant storm or powerful blasts. However, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, these were not accidents or technical malfunctions, but the work of air defense systems actively engaging attacking drones. Klitschko reported that Ukrainian air defense forces had been operating since the morning of June 28. Earlier, at 22:41, he confirmed that active combat was underway in the Kyiv region against enemy drones. This was another wave of attacks directed by the aggressor's armed forces. The mayor emphasized that in response to these assaults, air defense units quickly mobilized to protect residential neighborhoods and strategic facilities of the capital. Overall, on the night before June 29, an air alert sounded in Kyiv twice: at 22:41 and again shortly before midnight, at 23:56, when the Ukrainian Air Forces issued an official warning about the appearance of enemy drones approaching from the north. According to this information, the enemy is utilizing attack drones to launch strikes, trying to sow chaos and intimidate the civilian population. Powerful explosions have probably become a symbol of new security challenges for Kyiv. Local authorities urge citizens to remain calm, while security services are strengthening measures against drone attacks. Investigators are currently determining what weaponry the enemy is using to destroy targets in the city center and what new tactics they are employing in this war to damage infrastructure and psychologically pressure residents. Overall, the situation in Kyiv keeps people tense and frightened, as each night can become another test of their endurance and the country's defense capabilities. Everyone is awaiting official comments and further information from the Ukrainian Armed Forces and authorities to better understand the scale and nature of upcoming attacks. But one thing remains certain: the city's air defense systems are once again active every day, protecting not only Kyiv's sky but also the peace of every Ukrainian.
