Night drone attacks: almost all destroyed, one penetrated – caused significant damage

On the cloudy night of June 27-28, the country again came under attack from drones. According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, enemy forces have become more active - at this time 23 Shahed attack UAVs and various drone simulators were dropped on our territories, operating from the directions of Primorsko-Akhtarsk, which is in Russia, and Chauda, which is in the temporarily occupied Crimea. The main target is the Odessa region, a strategic region that is not the first time that it has become the object of night attacks by Russian drones. According to the agency, as of 09:00 in the morning, anti-aircraft missile units successfully neutralized 22 of the 23 launched enemy Shahed UAVs. Of these, 21 were shot down by air defense systems, and one was disabled or suppressed by electronic warfare (EW) systems. This indicates the professional work of Ukrainian air defense systems, which were able to reduce the number of successful enemy strikes. The main achievement of the night was the destruction of an enemy drone in the city of Odesa, where it hit after the air defense system was breached. After the collision, the wreckage of the downed drone was recorded at eight different locations throughout the region. However, one of the drones broke through the defense lines and caused significant damage - in the city of Odesa, destruction occurred as a result of the hit, which is confirmed by local sources. Overall, the night attack was another evidence of the enemy’s activity and its desire to inflict maximum damage on Ukrainian infrastructure. While most of the drones were destroyed in the air or on the ground, the intrusion of one enemy drone reminded us of the importance of constant monitoring and strengthening defense systems. Ukrainian military and air defense services continue to work hard to minimize the consequences of such incursions and protect peaceful cities from new threats.
