On the night of Saturday, June 28, Odesa became the target of another aggression by the Russian occupation forces, who used an unprecedented number of strike drones. As a result of this terrible attack, a couple died - the proactive and well-known teacher Kateryna Borsynska, who taught at the Mikhailovsky Lyceum, together with her husband Valentin. They lived in a 21-story residential building located in the city center. The mayor of the city, Gennady Trukhanov, expressed condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased in his Telegram channel, and also noted that Odessans, together with the educational community, are experiencing this heavy loss. According to official data from the Odessa Regional Prosecutor's Office, the number of victims of the attack has increased to 17 people, including three children aged three to fourteen. As a result of the shelling, dozens of infrastructure facilities were damaged: in particular, private cars were destroyed, a gas station building, warehouses of enterprises and outbuildings were damaged. On that day, the Russian military launched 23 drones into the territory of Ukraine, most of which were aimed specifically at the Odessa region. The Ukrainian defense forces actively fought the drones - all but one were shot down. Only this one drone survived and became the cause of destruction and other consequences. In general, the Russian attack was another manifestation of the escalation of military actions in the country, aimed at destabilizing the situation in Ukraine and destroying civilians. Odesa, as the strategic and cultural heart of the southern region, once again suffered destruction and human losses, which causes deep indignation and sympathy among the population. In this difficult situation, the Ukrainian authorities and the country's defenders are making every effort to protect the city and its residents, but the tragedy involving the teacher and her husband has become another bitter illustration of the value of human life, which they are trying to preserve in the most brutal conditions of war.
