On Monday, April 29, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine issued a ruling on Deputy Prime Minister for National Unity Oleksiy Chernyshov, who is suspected of tacit participation in corruption schemes and abuse of power. According to the ruling, the official is required to pay a bail of 120 million hryvnias, which in fact means the possibility of avoiding detention if the specified funds are paid. The court session was held in closed session, but with open broadcasts for the press, which confirmed the final verdict. During the trial, prosecutors insisted on a preventive measure in the form of bail, arguing their position by the high probability of the suspect evading investigative actions and the risk of harming the investigation or fleeing. Oleksiy Chernyshov was detained a few days ago as part of an investigation into corruption schemes in state structures. He is suspected of receiving illegal benefits and abusing his official position. According to preliminary data, the evidence collected by investigators indicates his involvement in illegal transactions that caused significant losses to the state. The verdict of the High Anti-Corruption Court surprised not only the public, but also legal experts. They note that the bail amount of 120 million hryvnia is one of the largest set for suspects in corruption cases and testifies to the seriousness of the court's intentions to combat high-level corruption. The decision to pay such a sum should become a turning point in the political show and the result of a long legal battle. The bail should also serve as a guarantee that the suspect will remain under the control of the investigation and will contribute to the investigation. At the same time, Chernyshov's lawyers have already announced their intention to appeal this decision in the appellate court, which will be based, according to them, on the "illegal application of preventive measures" and "violation of the rights of their client." They emphasize that their client is ready to cooperate with the investigation and fulfill all obligations stipulated by the court decision. It is expected that the posting of bail will be a key stage in the process, which may affect the further political situation in the country. From now on, Oleksiy Chernyshov must refrain from any actions that may complicate the investigation or undermine confidence in his person. At the same time, society expects an objective disclosure of the circumstances of the case and the punishment of all those involved in corruption crimes. This case once again emphasizes the high level of challenges in the fight against corruption in Ukraine and demonstrates that even the highest state officials are under the close supervision of justice, regardless of their status.
