In Donetsk region, it is already traditional for enemy shelling to take human lives and destroy peaceful settlements. On June 27, Russian troops used Smerch multiple launch rocket systems, striking the villages of Ivanopillya and Kostyantynivka, which are part of the Kostyantynivka community. As a result, the number of casualties and injuries among civilians and the private sector increased. This was reported by the spokeswoman for the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office, Anastasia Medvedeva, in a comment to Ukrainska Pravda. According to the official representative, the attack took place at around 10:55 in the morning. "The Russian army opened fire on the village of Ivanopillya, located near Konstantinovka. The fire was applied using the Smerch multiple launch rocket systems, which caused the destruction of private households and caused human tragedies," Medvedev reported. As a result of the shelling, a 66-year-old man died, receiving injuries incompatible with life - his body was found in the ruins of a private house. In addition, his wife, a 64-year-old woman, received a mine-explosive injury, multiple shrapnel wounds and contusion. Three private residential buildings were significantly damaged during the attack. According to official information, half an hour later - at 11:30 - the enemies struck again at Konstantinovka. As a result, a 57-year-old local resident was killed. In addition to human losses, more than ten houses were damaged. As a result of the use of Smerch multiple launch rocket systems, a significant part of the housing stock suffered from destruction. Information about the dead and wounded is being finally clarified. The prosecutor's office has already launched a pre-trial investigation under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for liability for violations of the laws and customs of war. The use of prohibited weapons, such as the Smerch MLRS, by the occupiers is a gross violation of international humanitarian law and testifies to the cynicism and scale of their crimes in the Donetsk region. These tragic events once again remind us of the high level of danger faced by peaceful residents of the Ukrainian Donbas. Despite enhanced security measures and military means of defense, civilians remain under constant fire from the aggressor. The authorities and law enforcement agencies are making every effort to establish the circumstances of the crimes and bring the perpetrators to justice. At the same time, Ukrainian defenders continue to fight for security and peaceful skies for every resident of the region to stop this wave of destruction and loss.
