Borys Filatov warns of possible threat to his life due to secret list

Chas Pravdy - 27 June 2025 23:15

Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov has officially appealed to the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko with a demand to provide a reasoned explanation as to why law enforcement officers did not personally inform him of the potential danger to his life, which arose after the suspect in the murder of former MP Iryna Farion was found to have documents with his surname. In his appeal, published on June 27, Filatov particularly emphasized that during the trial in the Farion murder case, it became known that the mobile phones of suspect Vyacheslav Zinchenko stored PDF files with clear information not only about the deceased politician, but also about other public figures, including himself. According to him, these files contained information indicating possible intentions to physically eliminate the listed citizens, which raises serious concerns about the possible existence of a secret list of people who were verified at the level of physical destruction. Filatov noted that on March 13, 2025, unknown individuals in camouflage uniforms, disguised as employees of an energy company, illegally installed a video surveillance camera near his office, which is located near his private residence. According to the mayor, he immediately reported this fact to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but no reactions or explanations regarding the situation were received from the security forces. In addition, in his address, Filatov emphasized another disturbing fact - the attempt on the life of public figure Serhiy Sternenko, which occurred on May 1, 2025. The attacker was then detained at the scene of the crime, but, according to the mayor, all these events could be part of a single system of targeted actions directed against individual public figures and public activists. After the circumstances outlined, Filatov demands that the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, provide detailed explanations as to why he, as a citizen and as an official, was not notified of his inclusion in the potentially dangerous list. The mayor emphasizes that the lack of information and the lack of interest of law enforcement agencies in responding to his appeal cast doubt on their ability to effectively respond to potential threats and protect the lives of citizens. Overall, the situation raises serious concerns about the level of security of public figures in the country, especially in the context of the growing number of cases of illegal surveillance, secret lists and potential assassination attempts, which, according to Filatov, may be planned and coordinated. His appeal is a call to higher law enforcement agencies to respond more openly and transparently to possible threats, ensuring public control and personal protection of such individuals in the context of the difficult political and security situation in the country.
