Ukrainian detained for preparing terrorist attack to blow up military base
In the Kyiv region, law enforcement officers have exposed and detained a 19-year-old resident of the region who, on the orders of the Russian special services, was planning to carry out a terrorist act against a Ukrainian serviceman. Information about the attempt on the life of the Ukrainian defender was confirmed as part of a large-scale operation by the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police, which worked together to prevent a potential tragedy. According to the investigation, the organizer of this insidious plan was a young man who, under the pretext of an invitation to a fake date on a social network, created a fake account of a “girl”. This page on the social media platform was additionally created specifically to lure the Ukrainian serviceman to the place of the alleged meeting. Already during the meeting, when the serviceman, believing in the sincerity of his intentions, arrived at the designated location, an improvised device planted in a moped next to him signaled an explosion. According to the SBU press service, the guy was recruited through a Telegram channel operated under the control of Russian special services. It was established that he independently purchased a moped, in which he secretly assembled and installed an explosive device. Everything was done with the aim of eliminating a Ukrainian soldier, who is considered an important element of the enemy's destabilization campaign. When the soldier arrived at the "meeting" place, the Russians remotely detonated the explosion planted in the moped. Fortunately, no one was injured, but such an action called into question the security of the entire region. After the failure of the first operation, the attacker received a new task - to set fire to a military vehicle in the city of Pryluky, Chernihiv region. However, law enforcement officers acted quickly and detained the guy while carrying out this criminal scenario. During the search, elements of an explosive device were seized from him, as well as a mobile phone with evidence of cooperation with Russian special service agents. The suspect's actions are classified under Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine as a terrorist act. For such an offense, the young man may face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property. As part of the investigation, interrogation is already underway, the scale of involvement in wider layers of the Russian agent network operating on the territory of Ukraine, and plans for further provocations and sabotage actions are being established. This is the last reminder to all potential attackers about the unwavering firmness of Ukrainian law enforcement officers in the fight against any forms of terrorism and attempts to destabilize the situation on the state territory.
